HORSENS SKAKFORENING

Horsens Chess Club

Horsens Skakforening is a chess club located in Horsens, Denmark. These are our web pages.

Tournaments

The club holds a number of tournaments throughout the year, and visitors are always welcome to join in if circumstances allow - some of these run over half year. If you're a chess player visiting Denmark for a short stay only, do pop in for a chat and some blitz.

Of special note is Horsens Lang Weekend, an open tournament that is perfect for combining a holiday with playing chess. It is a 7 round swiss tournament held over just 4 days, Thursday to Sunday.

Note: The Horsens Lang Weekend tournament is currently on hiatus. No 2020 edition is planned.

It's just about the cheapest way to hold a vacation in Denmark there is. At the time of this writing, the registration fee is just 330DKK (44 euro), which is more than returned in prizes. If you bring your own sleeping bag, you can stay at the venue for a modest fee. Food and drink is sold at reasonable prices. Hotel discounts may also be available to participants.

The 2016 edition will be held on July 14 through July 17, 2016.

In 2009 we had 42 participants, including three IM's. Pictures from the event..

The tournament has grown since then, and we are expecting up to 150 participants in 2016, yet still maintaining the cosy atmosphere.
